  • Sales amounted to 1,285.6 million euros (MEUR) and were thus lower than the reference figure for the previous year (-8.5% versus Q1 2015: 1,404.3 MEUR). All business areas recorded a decline in sales.
  • Order intake, at 1,247.4 MEUR, reached a satisfactory level, however, it was 12.8% below the reference figure of the previous year (Q1 2015: 1,430.6 MEUR). While the PULP & PAPER business area in particular and also SEPARATION were able to increase order intake compared to Q1 2015, HYDRO and METALS saw a significant decline in order intake.
  • Order backlog as of March 31, 2016 amounted to 7,147.6 MEUR, thus decreasing slightly compared to the end of last year (December 31, 2015: 7,324.2 MEUR).
  • Despite the decline in sales, EBITA increased to 83.9 MEUR (Q1 2015: 73.4 MEUR). This is due to the very positive development in the PULP & PAPER and HYDRO business areas. Thus, profitability of the Group (EBITA margin) increased to 6.5% (Q1 2015: 5.2%).
  • Net income without non-controlling interests increased to 52.5 MEUR (Q1 2015: 44.0 MEUR).

The situation on the markets served by ANDRITZ basically has not changed compared to 2015. While unchanged good project and investment activity prevails in the PULP & PAPER business area, several projects in HYDRO and METALS have been stopped temporarily or delayed due to uncertain demand. Based on the business results achieved in the first quarter of 2016, ANDRITZ expects Group sales for 2016 to decrease slightly compared to 2015. At the same time, however, profitability is expected to remain at a solid level.

Andritz announces solid business development for third quarter https://www.recycling-magazine.com/2014/11/07/andritz-announces-solid-business-development-for-third-quarter/ https://www.recycling-magazine.com/2014/11/07/andritz-announces-solid-business-development-for-third-quarter/#respond Thu, 06 Nov 2014 23:00:00 +0000 https://www.recycling-magazine.com/2014/11/07/andritz-announces-solid-business-development-for-third-quarter/ Sales amounted to 1,463.5 million € in the third quarter of 2014 and were thus below the level of the previous yearʼs reference period (Q3 2013: 1,534.5 million €); the decline of 4.6% is mainly due to a project-related drop in sales in the Pulp & Paper and the Metals business areas. In the first three quarters of 2014, sales of the Group amounted to 4,122.9 million € and thus practically reached last yearʼs reference figure (-0.5% versus Q1-Q3 2013: 4,144.6 million €).

As of September 30, 2014, the order backlog amounted to 7,702.2 million € – an increase of 4.2% compared to the end of 2013 (December 31, 2013: 7,388.5 million €).

In the third quarter of 2014, the EBITA amounted to 101.0 million € and was thus 44.1% higher than the low level of the previous yearʼs reference period (Q3 2013: 70.1 million €), which was impacted negatively by additional costs in the Pulp & Paper and the Seperation business areas. The Groupʼs EBITA margin also increased substantially to 6.9% (Q3 2013: 4.6%). In the first three quarters of 2014, the EBITA amounted to 234.4 million € (+40.4% versus Q1-Q3 2013: 167.0 million €) and the EBITA margin was 5.7% (Q1-Q3 2013: 4.0%).

The net income of the Group in the first three quarters of 2014 amounted to 123.6 million € and was thus significantly higher than the previous yearʼs reference value (Q1-Q3 2013: 78.8 million €).

Solid business development for Andritz Group https://www.recycling-magazine.com/2014/08/15/solid-business-development-for-andritz-group/ https://www.recycling-magazine.com/2014/08/15/solid-business-development-for-andritz-group/#respond Thu, 14 Aug 2014 22:00:00 +0000 https://www.recycling-magazine.com/2014/08/15/solid-business-development-for-andritz-group/ Sales increased slightly to 2,659.4 Million Euro in the first half of 2014 (+1.9% versus H1 2013); this increase is attributable to the Schuler Group, which only contributed four months to the previous year’s reference period (first-time consolidation as of March 1, 2013). Sales in the second quarter of 2014, at 1,439.9 Millione Euro, almost reached the reference figure of last year (-0.4% versus Q2 2013).

In the first half of 2014, the EBITA amounted to 133.4 Million Euro (+37.7% versus H1 2013) and the EBITA margin was 5.0% (H1 2013: 3.7%). Thus, earnings were significantly above the low reference figure for the previous year, which was strongly negatively impacted in the first quarter of 2013 by high provisions booked for a pulp mill project in South America. In the second quarter of 2014, the EBITA amounted to 84.8 Million Euro and was thus 2.5% above the figure for the second quarter of 2013 (82.7 Million Euro). The EBITA margin slightly increased to 5.9% (Q2 2013: 5.7%).

The net income reached 66.7 Million Euro in the first half of 2014 and was thus well above the very low reference figure for the previous year (+42.2% versus H1 2013).

Andritz President and CEO Wolfgang Leitner: “Given the overall economic situation and the competitive environment, order intake and sales of the Andritz Group saw solid development. We achieved a significant improvement in earnings compared to the previous year’s reference period, although further improvements are necessary to reach our target figures. We expect unchanged project activity in the markets we serve for the current second half of the year.”
